Major legitimate festival with strong credentials

The Lebu International Film Festival (FICIL/CINELEBU), held annually since 1999 in Lebu, Chile, is the country's most important film festival in the Biobío Region and one of Chile's premier cinematic events. It is notably the only festival in Chile accredited to qualify short films for the Academy Awards (Oscars) in three categories—International Animation, Regional Fiction, and International Fiction—as well as for the Goya Awards since 2023. The festival showcases fiction, documentary, and animation short films (and increasingly features), offering a free, all-ages program with industry workshops, masterclasses, and international guests.
