The ACT Human Rights Film Festival is Fort Collins' only human rights-themed film festival and one of only three such festivals in the United States, showcasing artistically excellent documentary and narrative films from around the world that align with the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Founded in 2016 by Colorado State University's Department of Communication Studies, the festival is notable for uniting diverse audiences to awaken to global human rights issues, connect through film and dialogue, and transform their communities through advocacy and civic engagement. Over its first decade, ACT has screened more than 200 films from 13+ countries, hosted over 150 filmmakers and activists, and attracted more than 18,000 attendees.
